4 Tips To Look Younger
- Don’t be a dirty girl! Wash and moisturize every day. You don’t want to go to bed with makeup on your face. Doing this will age you 10 years! For the Lazy girl: there are several products out there from Olay to MAC that have wipes which will make this very easy for you. I use Johnson and Johnsons baby wash to wash my face every night. Finish up with a moisturizer. Olay makes several different moisturizers you can choose from and are great price points.
- Approach Shimmer with Caution! Formulas with shiny particles act like airport runway lights- they illuminate every line, wrinkle and pore.
- Heavy hand is good for icing on cupcakes NOT foundation. Chose sheer textures and apply with a light touch. Cream formulas with moisture, look softer and prettier. If you have adult acne or spots to cover up…use a spot concealer instead of an all over cover-up foundation.
- Heroin Chic is not in! You want to stay away from too much powder and dark heavy liner. If you go for this look you run the risk by the end of the night looking like Heroin Chic. Go more for neutral shadows and dark chocolate eyeliner- that won’t draw attention to your fine lines.
Make-up Is Not Like Twinkies…
What is the Shelf Life for Make-up and some Extra Tips!
- Councealers- Up to 12 months
- Powder- Up to 2 years
- Cream and gel Cleansers- Up to 1 year
- Eyeshadow- Up to 3 years. Extra Tip: remember that powder eyeshadows can be used as liners with a super flat angled brush. You can use it dry or wet. Just slide the brush right at your lash line with soft light strokes.
- Brushes- wash your brushes every 2-3 months. Extra Tip: My favorite daily brush cleaner is Cinema Secrets (cinemasecrets.com) or MAC makes a great brush cleaner as well. Put in a spray bottle and spray on your brushes then wipe back and forth on a tissue. For the BIG clean, you can use Johnson and Johnsons baby wash.
- Sponges- wash weekly or discard every month
- Foundation- water based foundations you can keep up to 12 months/ oil based foundation up to 18 months. Extra Tip: You probably use 2 different color foundations thru out the year, one for the winter and one for the summer. So, that time is really cut in half.
- Lip Liner- Up to 3 years. Extra Tip: Don’t waste your money on push up or twist up lip liners. There expensive and tend to break and you never really know how much you have left.
- Lipstick- Some experts say 1-2 years. Others say up to 4 years. What everyone agrees on is that if it smells rancid, throw it out, it’s spoiled. Extra Tip: A great way to store your lipsticks is to scoop them out and put them in a pill box. This allows you to see all your colors at a glance and you can put the names of the colors on the bottom. Also, storing them in the refrigerator, will make them last longer. BONUS TIP: Want your lipstick to last longer during the day? Shade in lips with lip liner before applying lipstick and then apply the lipstick and blot. (Apply and blot a few times) this allows the color to stay and removes the wax.
- Mascara- This product expirers the fastest! Throw it out after 4 months. Extra Tip: Don’t want it to expire faster then don’t pump it. Pumping the wand exposes it to air and will dry it out.
- Nail Polish- Up to 12 months- this also depends on the use and the quality of the polish
Now for some more good news…
Just like the perfect guy who vanishes after a few great dates, you have found a perfect shade and the company stops making it! Makeup companies are always creating new and improved products so they are always changing. Well unlike the date game and bringing back the perfect guy…companies like Este Lauder are giving you a way to get back that perfect product you miss.
Este Lauder Brands (Clinique, Bobbie Brown, MAC) have created GONE BUT NOT FORGOTTEN. You can purchase up to 6 remaining pieces of any discontinued product. (as long as it still has a shelf life)
You can also try Ebay, Beautyencounter.com, Amazon and Overstock. These are websites you can access and look up your favorite missing product.
